WITH massive awareness and educational campaign on the program, certainly this new scheme set to be launched by the Valenzuela City government led by its Mayor Rex Gatchalian which primarily aimed at bringing comfort to taxpayers especially those real property owners will succeed and even be imitated by other local government units.
In fact, it reportedly has inked an agreement with a leading bank to realize this online payment project which will initially cater to real property before it goes full blast that will include business taxes. “Through this project, real property owners don’t have to go to the City Hall to pay for their obligations, they can do it online,” the mayor says.
He adds: “For sure, it will bring convenience to them, and of course, it will also help the city government save time and resources in the process. Admittedly, it will take time before we introduce online payment on business taxes because it’s real-ly taxing but we will definitely get there because we want to truly modernize and make more efficient the city government’s way of transacting business with the public,” Mayor Gatchalian says.
Upon assumption to office, he has vowed not only to match but surpass the outstanding performance and accomplishments of his elder brother, former mayor and now Rep. Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian who held the city’s top post for straight nine years.
“It’s really hard to emulate what my brother did to the city. His numerous awards and citations for being an outstanding local chief exe-cutive in terms of good governance and transparency, among others, are not easy to be achieved by anyone,” says the mayor.

PFDA-NFPC leads Int’l Coastal Clean-up
Look what would be the encouraging result if everyone thinks of something and carries it out for the good of all and our environment.
One is the initiative made by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority-Navotas Fishport Complex (PFDA-NFPC) led by its general manager, Eduardo Chu, which brought hundreds of people from different sectors including those from Inter-Island Deep Sea Fishing Association to join in the recent coastal clean-up.
With Port Manager Miguel Lamberte and NFPC security unit chief Arfilo Catipay, the volunteers scoured and removed some 50 tons of trash and debris at the pier, quayside and peripheries of the fish port area that threaten to flow into the open water bordering it.
Chu says: “Malaki ang ating pananagutan sa kalikasan kaya dapat natin itong pangalagaan at pagkaingatan. Kailangan ang ma-lawakang edukasyon, higit sa pag-uugnayan at partisipasyon ng lahat upang maisakatuparan ang adhikaing ito.”
Hailing the support of the IDSFA members, Chu, Lamberte, Catipay and Asst. GM Rodrigo Jimenez were in unison in saying that the effort is just the beginning to conserve the coastal and marine environment and NFPC’s food safety program.
