LOCAL government units can get a huge amount out of the proceeds of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s lottery if they would encourage putting up more outlets in their areas, by doing so, these LGUs can make use of their share for their social programs.
Acting Chairman and General Manager Ferdinand Rojas II, meanwhile, informs those LGUs which already have lotto outlets that they could already claim their cheques that cover the period of July to December 2013.
Under its charter, R.A. 1169, PCSO allocates 30% from its net receipts from lotto operations to the Charity Fund, from which funds for the agency’s medical and healthcare-related programs are drawn.
Also under E.O. 357, 5% of the Fund is granted to LGUs where lotto outlets are located.
From July to December 2013, the agency has set aside a total of P232,624-million for LGU shares nationwide with Metro Manila getting the biggest share at P75M.
‘Chairman’ Rojas has this to say to the public: “For every ticket you buy, you not only have the chance to become a millionaire but you are also helping fellow Filipinos around the country.”
He likewise, encourages other LGUs to host more lotto outlets so that they can also avail of the shares which they can use for their social programs. May your tribe, GM Rojas, multiply!
VALENZUELA ACQUIRES 189 VEHICLES
The one-year-old administration of Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has acquired at least 189 vehicles worth about P59-million which several local offices and departments will use in a determined effort to hasten the local government’s services to its residents.
To formally mark the first anniversary of Gatchalian’s leadership as the local chief executive, Ms. Ahna Mejia, the city’s public information officer, said a grand motorcade of the new government vehicles was held late last month along the city’s major thoroughfares.
The motorcade was preceded by a thanksgiving mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Barangay Marulas and was concluded by a blessing ceremony at Puregold’s parking area in Barangay Dalandanan, she said.
The former lawmaker-turned-mayor has reminded officials and employees to take good care of the newly purchased vehicles as these were funded through the taxpayers’ hard-earned money.
“More importantly, the local government under my administration has acquired these vehicles as these are fundamental in bringing immediate aid and much-needed services to the constituents,” the mayor said.
Workers from the City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Disaster Preparedness Office, Task Force Disiplina, TMO, WMO and Philippine National Police– Valenzuela who were issued the new automobiles, joined the motorcade. GOOD RIDDANCE/Arlie O. Calalo
