TWO big political names have formally forged their ties as they formed a ticket that would make them a formidable team to beat in the coming May 9 polls in Malabon City.
Incumbent Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel and Vice Mayor Jeannie Sandoval have officially announced during a recent grand proclamation rally about their alliance which they called ‘Sanib Lakas’ with its first two letters (S and L) apparently referring to their names.
A member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, Rep. Lacson-Noel is running for mayor while VM Sandoval, a Nationalista Party member, is up for her re-election bid with a complete ticket of candidates for council posts for the city’s District’s 1 and 2.
“Now that we’ve formally forged our alliance, we can assure the residents and the city as a whole that they’d end up the winner because they can expect a much genuine kind of public service that’s not selective but for all,” they vow.
The alliance has even more solidified by the entry of ex-Rep. Ricky Sandoval, known as the Father of the Malabon Cityhood and the VM’s hubby, who’ll try to get back the position he held some years back.
The Sandoval couple had promised that they’d be a strong partner of Rep. Lacson-Noel, once they all get elected, in carrying out various pro-people and pro-poor programs and projects.
“She’ll look for projects for the people of Malabon and my (congressional) office will take charge of the funding. We’ll do it with complete partnership so that the residents will benefit in full,” ‘Rep.’ Ricky assures.
The alliance has been long watched and awaited by many who believed it could give the current local leadership a good fight come May 9 elections. “With their team-up, we can expect an exciting electoral exercise in the city but we just hope that they all advocate peace and non-violent campaigning and they should set good example to the residents,” they hope.
Asked about non-violent campaign strategies, the duo say they’d never start such but they appeal to their political rivals not to use force to harass the local electorate as well as their supporters.
The ‘Lakas Sanib’ team, during the proclamation rally, had paused for few minutes as they all lit candles along with the huge crowd as they offered prayers to Bgy. Concepcion councilman Dan Villaluna and Barangay San Agustin councilman Benjo Reyes who were shot dead by a suspected hired killer last Holy Wednesday.
Reyes and Villaluna were known closely associated with Rep. Lacson-Noel whose marked vehicle for emergency and rescue was the same van used by the duo as they just reportedly brought a patient to a hospital when they were assassinated. GOOD RIDDANCE/ARLIE CALALO
