NAVOTAS’ local officials led by brothers – Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Rep. Toby Tiangco – have congratulated residents from at least three barangays for their active participation in Friday’s plebiscite that showed an overwhelming ‘Yes’ vote for additional four villages in the city.

No less than Rep. Tiangco confirmed to this writer that the affirmative votes prevailed during the exercise held simultaneously last Friday in Barangays North Bay Boulevard South, Tangos and Tanza.

Rep. Tiangco said, “I congratulated the people of the concerned barangays.

“This should result in better delivery of basic services and improved peace and order.”

The mayor, for his part, had campaigned to encourage registered voters in the three villages to cast their votes for the ratification of splitting these barangays that will provide the local government the ability to efficiently serve its constituents.

Under Republic Act 10933, Barangay NBBS would be divided into three parts to be known as Barangays NBBS Proper, NBBS Kaunlaran and NBBS Dagat-Dagatan while by virtue of R.A 10934, Barangay Tangos would be divided into Barangays Tangos North and Tangos South and under R.A. 10935, Barangay Tanza would split into Tanza 1 and Tanza 2.

‘BISTEK’ LAUDS QCPD DIRECTOR FOR DECLINING CRIME RATE

Quezon City Mayor Herbert ‘Bitek’ Bautista was all praises for Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar over the massive decline in crime rate in the entire city specifically over the period from July 2016 to December 2017.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa QCPD, kay District Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, dahil naging higit na mapayapa tayo rito sa QC.

“Bumaba po ng 40 percent ang krimen sa ating lungsod,” the visibly-elated Mayor Bautista said.

Comparing the last 18 months from July 2016 to December 2017 with the previous 18 months from January 2015 to June 2016, QCPD statistics show a notable 40.09 percent decline in the eight index crimes (murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, motorcycle theft, motor vehicle theft, rape) or 8,931 crime incidents in the last 18 months compared to 14,908 in the prior 18 months.

C/Supt. Eleazar said the notable decline in the eight major crimes can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of every QCPD member who works in partnership with the community with full support coming from the Bautista-led city government.

“As the kind mayor was all praises for the good performance of QCPD, I think it’s more appropriate that we should express our gratitude to him for his all-out support in all forms to every member and the police force as a whole,” he said. GOOD RIDDANCE/ARLIE CALALO
