THE renowned Pastor Apollo Quiboloy surprised Lieutenant General Ricardo Rainier Cruz with a job offer during a birthday feast he hosted on Thursday for the outgoing Eastern Mindanao.
Command chief. The “surprise” job offer was made in the presence of General Cruz’s family and high school classmates at The Restored Garden of Eden, the kingdom’s eight-hectare Covenant Mountain and Prayer Center in Mt. Apo, Barangay Tamayong, Calinan, Davao City.
“General Cruz is too young to retire and the Kingdom is in need of a security consultant. (Ever) since he was assigned here as task force commander for almost three months, we already made a good relationship with him and his wife,” Quiboloy said.
Quiboloy, the founding leader and Executive Pastor of the Restorationist Church, Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name based in Buhangin Road, Davao City, also owns various businesses including ACQ-Kingdom Broadcast Network (Sonshine Media Network International), 17 radio stations all over the country, and two local and international newspapers.
Lt. General Cruz recalls his friendship to Quiboloy as spanning six years. If indeed he becomes the security consultant of the “The Kingdom Nation,” his job will include security matters affecting the church which claims to have four million followers in the Philippines and two million followers abroad.
I asked General Cruz if Pastor Quiboloy’s job offer was serious. The good general said he thinks Pastor Quiboloy must only be joking.
I proceeded to ask Pastor Quiboloy if his offer was serious. He said yes, it was.
I asked in jest how much remuneration the general would receive, the Pastor said he and General Cruz will talk about the matter.
Our pleasure of visiting the Restored Garden of Eden was somehow marred by an incident on our way back to Davao City when the coaster which carried the general’s visitors from Manila lost its brakes. If not for the presence of mind and guidance of Staff Sergeant Norberto Ambata, a veteran aide of generals who accompanied the group, the driver might have lost control of the vehicle.
