CALOOCAN Mayor Oscar ‘Oca’ Malapitan has bared his administration’s long-term development plan for the city called Caloocan 2030: The Livable City Development Plan (C-2030).
Interviewed at the sideline of the City Development Council (CDC) general assembly held recently at the La Consolacion College auditorium, Mayor Oca said the groundwork for the Caloocan-2030 is being prepared now, such as pinpointing the availability of lands, coordinating with financial institutions, feasibility studies and planning the organizational structures.
“This is what I will be focusing on on my second term of office,” the former lawmaker-turned-mayor said.
The Caloocan 2030: The Livable City Development Plan is composed of eight key components: 1. Reliable mobility and efficient transportation system; 2. People-friendly business environment; 3. Productive human resources; 4. Inclusive Growth; 5. Resilient Barangays; 6. Responsive city government; 7. Technology-driven anti-criminality program; and 8. Greening the city.
“The whole system, such as – traffic, road networks, social services, housing, will suffer the brunt of over-population, if we do not prepare for that,” the city chief executive said.
He added: “The details of every component of C-2030 will be explained to the people in the upcoming ‘Ugnayan’ meetings in all barangays in the city.”
As part of C-2030, Mayor Malapitan said “we will soon start the construction of elevated garden walkways; conduct feasibility studies on Rapid Bus Transit System; special clean-air routes for e-trikes and e-jeepneys; greening of all vacant spaces; partnering with the business sector to put up dormitories for their employees to reduce the number of commuting workers; technology-efficient job placement schemes, and many more green urban re-development initiatives.”
TAKING CARE OF FIRE VICTIMS
On orders of Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco, the concerned local agencies took turns in bringing the much-needed support and relief goods to over 100 families that were displaced recently by fire at a residential area in Barangay San Roque.
He said made sure that the local departments particularly the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office would provide all forms of support including medical assistance to the affected families.
“Our concerned officials and personnel were immediately dispatched to the fire scene and evacuation center to ensure that the much-needed assistance is provided to the affected families without delay,” Mayor Tiangco said.
Gratified by the full assistance they got from the city government, the affected families said it was truly painful that they became homeless because of the blaze but were pleased and consoled by the all-out support the mayor has been extending to them at the evacuation centers.
