OMBUDSMAN Conchita Carpio-Morales’ impartiality and resolve can be easily gauged by acting with dispatch, meaning no hesitations, on complaints filed against those some appointed by President Noynoy Aquino who leads a ‘Tuwid na Daan’ administration.
Take for example the graft case filed by the labor association of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System against its administrator, Gerardo Esquivel, whom it accused of abusing his authority for reportedly hiring over 40 consultants whose monthly salaries ranged from P5,000 to P400,000.
According to association president Napoleon Quinones, they still count on the Ombudsman’s independence and determination to go after crooked government officials and employees, hence, they still believe though it’s quite long time since they elevated their complaints against Esquivel to the anti-graft office that she’ll find time to decide on the particular case.
Quinones claims that MWSS employees have been demoralized because Esquivel and his board of trustees have withheld the regular workers’ benefits while engaging in a hiring spree of consultants which results in the irregular disbursement of government funds in the amount of P14.9 million.
He appeals: “We urge the Ombudsman to act on our case expeditiously. The MWSS leadership has committed grave abuse of discretion and authority that is definitely not in step with the Tuwid Na Daan policy of the administration of President Benigno Aquino III”, resulting in the irregular disbursement of government funds in the amount of P14.9 million.
PNoy, in his first State of the Nation Address, trained his guns on the MWSS for huge benefits released during its past administration wherein a driver got a whopping monthly salary of nearly P100, 000.
Huh! Just new faces but crookedness reins over them. Nothing changed.
What Flood Summit?
HEARD, Malacanang is keen to a stupid suggestion for a flood summit. What flood summit at this time everyone starts to experience once again this perennial flooding even during few minutes of rainfall, owing to these clogged canals and tributaries?
Ok, there’s actually no problem with flood summit if those intelligent men from the national government would insist. Nonetheless, why only now when the problem has been with us over the years?
We never learn hard lessons from the past. By this time, those genius people from PNoy administration must be very full in terms of anti-flood programs and plans which they could long have been implementing since they’re already more than three years at the helm.
Stop with those alibis and buck-passing. If you cannot do it right, go and let others finish the job.
Damn you!
